7th edition of the Business Angel Leaders Program

May 10 - June 9, 2021 | ONLINE

Women Investing in Tech is the second edition of the Business Angel Leaders program dedicated specifically to female business angels. Both program editions address the diversity issue in the EU investment market.

The program aims to form a community of female investment leaders all over Europe and empower women to lead the deals. The program offers angel investors acknowledging different frameworks to use while building their portfolios.

After completing the program, participants will be invited to join Business Angel School Alumni network: 70+ alumni, 30 leading angels from different EU BANs, VCs, investment platforms, and initiatives.

The program's guest speaker list includes industry professionals from all over Europe: Super Angels and angels, BANs, Investment Leaders and VCs.

  1. Contribute to creating a Pan-European angel investors ecosystem
  2. Help business angels to build their investment network
  3. Share hands-on knowledge and working frameworks
  4. Empower female angels to lead the deals

The 5-week program features a wide range of relevant angel investing topics, starting from the investment overview, startup evaluation framework, angel profile and finishing with startup-investor relation, legal framework and deals' syndication.

Women Investing in Tech combines diverse learning techniques and methodologies, ensuring a real experience to be put on the table. Participants will have a chance to attend special workshops, fireside chats with leading angels and panel discussions with the EU-based VCs.

The practice-based program also offers to join the round tables with VCs and live startup pitches that help test frameworks on an instant basis. Program also allows growing your networks with superangels, professional VCs and other essential ecosystem players throughout Europe.

Last year, we presented the first special edition of the Business Angel Leaders - Women Investing in Tech:

  • The program's alumni decided to invest in 2 startups.

Rita Sakus, Board Member, LitBAN:

Diversity is the key to success and finally, we are starting to recognize this through real-life examples:  by comparing and contrasting. We don't live in a single-sex, single culture, single age, single religion world and so it perfectly follows that the more diverse a group solving issues, the better off, more robust, more successful, more inclusive the solution and analysis will be. Studies have shown that women are more holistic in their approach to investments. However, a very small minority of business angels are women. Bringing more women angels to pitches, investments and boards will only provide a better, broader lens through which to evaluate and understand highly volatile innovative startups.  I believe more women business angels, will also narrow the tragic gap between the funding of male-led start-ups vs female-led start-ups. Sandra's Business Angel course is exceptional, as she is methodological, experienced, connected and can shine a wide-angle on the ins and outs of angel investing here and abroad. I highly recommend this course to all women who are in the least bit interested in early-stage innovative investments and learning more about the start-up ecosystem. Having a women-only learning environment should provide a safe learning environment to give students the courage to ask all the questions openly, earnestly in order to set a strong foundation from which even the highest heels can confidently venture into the venture world without missing a step! (And, yes, it's important to wear shoes, since there's glass everywhere today.)

Šarūnė Smalakytė, Head at ROCKIT:

This program is dedicated to build a strong foundation of angel investments and bring you right to the core of the startup ecosystem. It is suited for both -  the fresh start and your knowledge upgrade - as the program guides you through the theoretical base and gives valuable hands-on experience on startup evaluation, creating your profile, syndicate investments, and many more. Also, Baltic Sandbox is creating a network of same-minded professionals passionate about startups, which is a great source of support and inspiration even after the program.

Marta Matisone, Start-up council at LCCI:

One of the best trainings to understand what a start-up is, what "it eats and how to nurture it"! The best opportunity to meet powerful, motivated women! This is the best way to be part of investor network."
